Chen Xiaoyan, Vice President of All-China Youth Federation, delivered a speech

Thank you for the excellent moderation. Respected Vice Chairman Li Xikui, Deputy Director Fu Wan, First Lady Alya Ali, and all the young friends present, good morning!

I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Belt and Road Women’s Forum and the Youth Leadership Forum today. On behalf of the All-China Youth Federation, I warmly welcome all leaders and guests and express my sincere thanks to those who have always cared for youth work and the growth of young people.

More than two thousand years ago, our ancestors traversed deserts to forge the thousands-of-miles-long Silk Road, connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa. In the autumn of 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed the initiative to build the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. The Belt and Road gradually transformed from a concept into action, from a vision into reality, soaring like wings toward a future of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. This year marks the tenth anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative. Over the past decade, we have attached great importance to the construction of the Belt and Road, establishing relationships with over 200 national youth organizations and international institutions, launching development programs like the Dream-Building Youth, and creating a multi-faceted communication platform for youths from countries along the route, actively contributing to the well-being of the people and sustainable development of these nations.

In October this year, President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. He comprehensively reviewed the great achievements of the Belt and Road over the past decade, summarized the successful experiences, proposed a grand vision for achieving modernization worldwide, systematically deployed the next phase of actions, and charted a blueprint for the next golden decade, pointing out the direction.

Youth are a vital force in building a better world. Undoubtedly, without the participation of young people and without creating conditions for them to unleash their full potential, our vision for the future will lose its luster. We must deeply study and implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important discourse, vigorously promote youth participation in the Belt and Road Initiative, and make new contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Taking advantage of today’s precious opportunity, I would like to share a few thoughts with everyone:

First, creating a better future for the world is the responsibility of the youth. Throughout the long river of history, young talents have emerged, always at the forefront of human civilization, making significant contributions to comprehensive human progress. We always treat youth as the hope for national development and ethnic rejuvenation, continuously supporting them to take responsibility and achieve success. The Belt and Road encompasses a vast number of young people with tremendous developmental potential. We call on all countries along the route to pay more attention to the voices of youth, strengthen their faith in youth power, include youth in national and international development strategies, support young people in enhancing their skills in various fields, support them in realizing their life values, and enable them to better shoulder the historical responsibility of building a better world.

Secondly, we aim to unleash the potential of youth, injecting new vitality into global development through their empowerment. The vast pool of young talents is the essential foundation for advancing the Belt and Road Initiative. We must broadly engage with youth departments, organizations, social enterprises, think tanks, and universities along the Belt and Road route. By uniting youths aspiring to contribute to this initiative, we will continuously carry out exchange visits, training programs, international communication, and community building, thus creating an action-oriented network of youth partners. Establishing sustainable youth cooperation, we strive to provide higher-quality education, more comprehensive employment opportunities, and a wider range of participation, thereby better stimulating the innovative and creative energy of the youth.

Thirdly, we seek to gather the strength of youth to make new contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind. The shared aspiration for a harmonious world is a common dream of humanity. The Belt and Road Initiative, transcending different national borders, stages of development, historical cultures, ideological differences, and social systems, has promoted shared opportunities, joint development, and common prosperity, becoming a vivid practice in building a human community with a shared future. We must collectively uphold the spirit of the Silk Road – peace, cooperation, openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning, and mutual benefit. By rallying the broadest youth forces, we support young people from all countries to participate in building the Belt and Road, contributing to the advancement of global modernization and the construction of a shared future for mankind.

Distinguished guests and friends,

Gathered here in beautiful Sanya, through three days, we have deeply felt the grand strategy of our nation, namely the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port. Especially this morning, our visit to the Yazhou Bay Science and Technology Industrial Park further deepened our understanding of the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speech during his visit and guidance. It highlighted the profound strategic significance of securely holding the rice bowl in our hands and the steps towards becoming a maritime power from a major maritime nation.

Here, we sincerely invite not only the youth of Hainan but also young friends along the Belt and Road and from all over the world. We earnestly invite all global youth to join in our nation's grand strategic development.

Finally, I wish for the complete success of our forum today. Thank you, everyone!
