The 5th Belt and Road Women’s Forum successfully convened in Sanya, Hainan from December 6-8. We have just heard from two female leaders about the embodiment of ‘She Power’ in their companies. I want to share my feelings on this because ‘She Power’ starts with me, with all of us here – we are all women.
Throughout history, from empresses to current female scientists, researchers, and CEOs, women have played diverse roles, including that of a mother. In this role, mothers often hold a more significant place in our lives.
Why do we pivot from ‘Her Power’ to the role of a mother? Because, for many, motherhood forms a substantial part of their life, sometimes even more than their career or personal aspirations. However, this is not to diminish women’s achievements. Instead, I express gratitude towards them, towards our mothers, for the opportunity to experience and share the joys of motherhood.
This leads me to our company’s sector. I am grateful for the mothers who, during their pregnancy, provide us with a perfect model – the newborn's umbilical cord, cord blood, and placenta. In our complex society, where malignant tumors and various diseases frequently occur in newborns and adolescents, these maternal gifts are invaluable.
Mothers not only endure the ten-month gestation and the challenging process of childbirth but also leave their children a life-saving gift – hematopoietic stem cells. Though small in quantity, these cells have been cultivated, expanded, and used in clinical treatments to save many children suffering from acute leukemia, especially in hospitals in Beijing and Shenzhen. Witnessing these children recover is a heartfelt gratitude to all mothers.
Today’s theme is not only about ‘She Power’ but also about the beauty granted by technology. Our company, Lejie (Hainan) Biotechnology, is a national company with six branches across the country. Our main business includes cell storage, preparation, development, and clinical applications. All these cells originate from ‘She,’ so we begin by thanking ‘She,’ thanking the mothers for their gift.
Although it’s challenging to fully convey here the wondrous and beautiful process we undergo, I believe that our ‘She Power,’ though seemingly modest, brings about a unique and profound transformation, from the inside out. Having discussed our theme, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce our company.
