Distinguished guests and friends, good day to all.
Welcome, friends from countries and regions along the Belt and Road Initiative, to China, to the beautiful city of Sanya, where we gather to exchange and learn about women's contributions to the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Belt and Road Women's Forum, now in its fifth edition, has established a platform for women representatives from countries along the route. Your participation makes the forum more grounded, more connected with the hearts of the people, contributing suggestions for women's causes in countries along the route, and uniting a cross-regional, cross-cultural, and cross-professional "She Power."
The key to building the Belt and Road lies in winning the hearts of the people, which requires platforms and channels for exchange, allowing communication based on equality and mutual trust, and enhancing understanding of each other.
The Belt and Road Initiative has journeyed through a decade, deepening policy communication between countries and promoting global interconnectivity.
Hong Kong and Macau, as Special Administrative Regions of China, under the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, serve as gateways for the nation to the world. Civil organizations in Hong Kong and Macau also actively take up the responsibility of building international platforms and connecting with people from countries along the Belt and Road.
For instance, the World Tourism Economic Forum I founded is one of the first international forums to respond to the Belt and Road Initiative. In 2014, we explored the opportunities in cultural tourism along the Maritime Silk Road, starting from Macau. In 2015, our theme was unleashing new dynamics of cultural and tourism economy under the Belt and Road Initiative. These forums invited Spain, Portugal, and Kazakhstan, three Belt and Road countries, as guest countries to discuss the initiative's philosophy in cultural and tourism aspects from a global perspective in Macau.
Civil exchanges effectively permeate the Belt and Road's spirit and essence into all social strata, planting the seeds of "promoting shared development and prosperity, and building a community of shared future for mankind" in the hearts of people worldwide.
From past experiences, I deeply feel the indispensable role of women in civil exchanges. As a member of the All-China Women's Federation, I keep President Xi Jinping's instructions for women close to heart, using his spirit as a guide to enhance the international discourse and influence of Chinese women, to tell the story of women's development in the new era, and to share experiences with sisters from other countries.
I have personally felt the mutual support and unique cohesion and influence among women through different Belt and Road women's activities. The Hong Kong Federation of Women, under my leadership, held the "Third Afro-Asian Women's Forum" in Hong Kong, inviting women leaders and representatives from various countries in Asia and Africa. This forum in Hong Kong, an international metropolis of China, facilitated high-level and in-depth discussions on global issues of concern to women and encouraged their participation in the Belt and Road construction.
In pursuit of high-quality development in the new era, I believe that civil exchange platforms should also enhance their mass and innovative appeal, uniting more groups from different classes and sectors. With innovative approaches, we should create new dimensions and spaces for exchange and cooperation, effectively completing the task of mutual understanding and affinity.
Ladies and gentlemen, over the past decade, the Belt and Road Initiative has driven economic and social development along its route. As the initiator, China has always taken the lead responsibly. As women, capable of "holding up half the sky," we must take up the task of connecting hearts.
President Xi Jinping has pointed out that as long as we work together and help each other, even if we are separated by thousands of miles, we can walk on a path of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.
Let us, as sisters, unite and use platforms like the Belt and Road Women's Forum to discuss how to promote the development of the Belt and Road, build and share a better life, and contribute women's wisdom.
I wish the forum great success and everyone fruitful results. Thank you.
